Danny John Jules: Labyrinth « Thread Started on Jan 1, 2006, 6:12pm »
Anybody else a fan of Labyinth?
Any of you that didn't know that Danny was in it as one of the fireys?
I have been speaking to Mike Quinn. He played Nien Nunb in Star Wars.
Anyway, Mike Quinn has also played one of Yoda's arms, and he was also in Labyrinth. So I took the opportunity to ask him about if he met Danny on set at all. Here is his reply: -

Hey Steve!
Well not a day into the new year and I learned something already! I worked quite a bit on the Fireys, or "Wild Things" as they were called at that time- until fear of confusion with Sendaks Where the Wild Things Are and they had to change it in post production. Anyway, I never met Danny unfortunately. I was involved with building and puppeteering but at the time of the shoot, the puppeteers provided guide voices, which is kind of normal for these types of movies. We had a guide song to lip synch to also, provided by Bowie (which I prefered to the final finished mix, but there ya go). So Danny did all his work in post, after the movie was shot, presumably providing dialogue and singing on the song too?
Looking him up on the old IMDB site, I see he was in 2 other movies I'd worked on. He was a dancer in The Great Muppet Caper and a Do-Wop singer on Little Shop Of Horrors, so I would have had more chance of meeting him then actually. Unfortunately, that's all I can tell you. Good luck with the forum though! I'll be sure to check it out shortly Take care and have a great new year!!! Mike

lol, orite. Sounds like he's got alot of time on his hands. I must say, films nowadays can't compare with films in the 80s like Labyrinth and Dark crystal, they depend way 2 much on cgi rather than cozy puppets which r way more convincing.
